Sun shining over Cambeak, crackington haven

Cancleave is situated on the coast road between Crackington Haven and Widemouth Bay. Standing in around half an acre of lawned garden bordering the coast path, it commands extensive views across Bude Bay right the way to Lundy Island on a clear day.

The property lies within the North Cornwall designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty as well as the Boscastle to Widemouth SSSI (Site of Special Scientific Interest)

Just outside the garden gate lies the South West Coast Path and from here a path winds down the sloping cliffs to the pebble beach below. Take the coast path to the south west of the property and you will shortly arrive in a dense stunted oak forest; a forest of fully mature yet miniature oaks. The pebbled beach of Millook is one mile by road to the north or approximately 30 mins on the coast path.

This area of North Cornwall boast some of the most popular surfing beaches in the UK. Widemouth Bay and nearby Bude both have splendid expanses of sandy beach ideal for surfers and beach lovers. Crackington Haven, a few miles to the south, is a quieter more family orientated beach with a couple of very good beach shops and cafes. As the tide drops back a lovely expanse of sand is revealed bordered by a wonderful playground of rock pools.

Widemouth, Bude and Crackington beaches are all patrolled by RNLI lifeguards on a seasonal basis, as are many of the other beaches in the area.

The beautiful nearby villages of Boscastle and Crackington, much publicised in 2004 because of the terrible floods, have now been restored to levels exceeding their former glory.

Just to the south of Boscastle lies Tintagel with it’s castle and legends of King Arthur and his knights.
