History

Cancleave has been in the family since 1962 and rented as a holiday property for much of that time after initially being extended and revamped. The stunning location has become a favourite for many guests who return year after year to enjoy the peace & tranquility.

It had long been our dream to redevelop Cancleave and create a new building to justify the incredible location. After much wrangling with the planners and many compromises we finally obtained permission to demolish and rebuild. In mid October 2020 we began to empty the building in preparation for demolition. I’d be lying if I said there weren’t some mixed feelings when we began to dismantle and ultimately demolish the ‘old’ Cancleave as it had given so much pleasure to so many guests over the years. Just over 7 months later, in early June 2021 we welcomed the first guests to the all new Cancleave.

We are absolutely thrilled to have developed it into a modern, energy efficient contemporary property that will take us forward into a whole new chapter and maximise the unique location. This is truly a gem on the beautiful North Cornish Coast.
